Solution

There is a huge difference between the political situation of present day France and that of France during the period of the French Revolution. Prior to the revolution, France was a monarchy. Immediately after the revolution, France became politically very unstable. The monarchy was abolished and the king was executed. But there was no immediate replacement of that political system. Instead, there was a period of instablity and rapid changes in government. The political system even degenerated into the Reign of Terror. Eventually, the revolution gave way to the dictatorship of Napoleon.

The political system of present day France is very stable. It is a republic with a Presidential form of government. The President is elected for a seven year term. There is also a Prime Minister who works jointly with the President to run the day to day administration of the country.
