What are the different lobes of the cerebrum?

Cerebrum:

  1. The cerebrum is the largest and the most important part of the brain.
  2. It is divided into right and left cerebral hemispheres.
  3. A cerebral fissure divides the right and left cerebral hemispheres.
  4. It has four lobes namely the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, temporal lobe, and occipital lobe.

Frontal lobe:

  1. It is located in the front side of the brain.
  2. It performs three important functions namely: voluntary motor activity, speaking ability, and the ability to think.

Parietal lobe:

  1. It is located behind the frontal lobes and in front of the occipital lobes.
  2. Their functions include processing sensory information such as temperature, pain, taste, and touch.

Temporal lobe:

  1. It is located on each side of the brain.
  2. It processes memory and hearing information and also speech and language functions.

Occipital lobe:

  1. It is located at the back side of the brain.
  2. It receives and process visual information.
