Infectious diseases:

  1. Infectious diseases spread from one infected person to a healthy person.
  2. They are spread by various agents such as water, food, vectors, etc.
  3. Water-borne diseases are spread by the consumption of contaminated water such as cholera.
  4. Food borne diseases are spread by the consumption of the contaminated food such as typhoid, and dysentery.
  5. Vector borne diseases are spread by insects or carriers which carry the causative pathogens such as anopheles mosquito, housefly etc.
  6. Diseases are also spread from mother to infant.
  7. Diseases are spread through unscreened blood transfusions.
