What are the different processes followed in distillation?
Boiling followed by condensation
The process of distillation is based on the difference in boiling point of the constituents of the solution. In distillation, the mixture is first boiled. The constituents of the mixture form vapours at their respective boiling points. The vapours of the constituents are then directed towards the outlet. Here, the temperature is reduced and the vapours condense to form a pure liquid. Hence, in distillation boiling is followed by condensation.
