Solution

Tissue:

  1. Tissue is a group of cells, which are having similar functions and shapes.
  2. In animals, there are different types of tissues. They are epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue, and nervous tissue.

Epithelial tissue:

  1. It is the covering or protective tissue that covers most organs and cavities within the body.
  2. The epithelial cells are tightly packed with no intercellular spaces.
  3. It is found in the lining of the mouth, blood vessels, kidney tubules, etc.
  4. It helps to protect the body from any kind of pathogen infections and also helps to absorb water and nutrients.
  5. It helps in the regulation of the exchange of gases and water between the body and the external environment.
  6. Based on the shape of the cell it is further divided into squamous epithelium, stratified epithelium, columnar epithelium, and cuboidal epithelium.
  7. based on the arrangement of layers, it is again divided into the simple epithelium and compound epithelium.
  8. Based on specific functions, it is divided into sensory epithelium, germinal epithelium, ciliated epithelium, and glandular epithelium.

Connective tissue:

  1. This is a kind of tissue that is specialized in connecting different parts of the body.
  2. The cells of this tissue are living and loosely packed.
  3. It supports, protects, and gives structure to other tissue and organs in the body.
  4. It is further divided into connective tissue proper, skeletal tissue, and vascular tissue.

Muscular tissue:

  1. It is comprised of elongated cells that are responsible for the movement of our body.
  2. It is also called muscle fibre and a group of muscle fibres are known as muscles.
  3. It provides stability to the body.
  4. It is further divided into striated muscles, smooth muscles, and cardiac muscles.

Nervous tissue:

  1. It consists of neurons that are also known as nerve cells.
  2. It is found in the spinal cord, nerves, and the brain.
  3. Its main function is to coordinate and control many body activities.
