Solution
Passive transport :
Passive transport is defined as a type of transport that moves substances from an area of greater concentration to an area of lesser concentration without the help of any energy. Therefore, the movement of substances is along a concentration gradient.
The passive transport takes place through two different mechanisms - 1. Osmosis: Osmosis is the process of movement of water molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. 2. Diffusion: Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of molecules or particles from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration.
