What are the different types of pathogenic organisms?

Open in App
Solution

Pathogenic Organisms:

  1. Infectious diseases are primarily brought on by pathogens, a category of microbe.
  2. Pathogens can include viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and fungi.
  3. A host is all that a pathogen requires to grow and survive.
  4. The pathogen establishes itself inside a host and avoids the body's immunological reactions.
  5. Before leaving the body and spreading to a new host, it uses the body's resources to replicate.

Types of pathogenic organisms:

Pathogenic viruses:

  1. A segment of genetic information, such as DNA or RNA, and a protein covering make up pathogenic viruses.
  2. Once you are infected, viruses enter your body through host cells.
  3. After that, they replicate by using the elements of the host cell to create new viruses.
  4. These new viruses are expelled from the host cell following the completion of the replication cycle.
  5. The affected cells are frequently destroyed or damaged as a result.

Pathogenic bacteria:

  1. Microorganisms made up of just one cell are called bacteria.
  2. They are incredibly diverse, come in a wide range of forms and characteristics, and may exist in almost any setting, including inside of and on top of your body.
  3. Bacteria do not always lead to illnesses.

Pathogenic fungi:

  1. A pathogenic fungus is a variety of fungus that primarily infects people or other living things with sickness.
  2. On Earth, there are countless varieties of fungi.
  3. There are about 300 fungi that can cause disease in humans.
  4. Almost everywhere in the environment, including inside, outdoors, and on human skin, is home to fungi.
  5. When they expand too much, they spread infection.
  6. There are a lot more fungi that are known to be harmful to plants than to animals.

Pathogenic parasites:

  1. Organisms that cause disease and are taxonomically diverse are called pathogens.
  2. These include bacterial species, protozoan organisms, fungus, and even inanimate objects like viruses.
  3. On the other hand, parasites are living things that feed off of their hosts.

Pathogenic protozoa:

  1. Numerous eukaryotic microorganisms that are major parasite disease-causing agents are found in pathogenic protozoa.
  2. Single-celled organisms known as protozoa have the potential to spread disease.
  3. Toxoplasmosis, giardia, and malaria are examples of typical protozoan illnesses.

Diseases caused by pathogenic organisms are:

  1. Fungi – Ringworm, Athlete’s foot
  2. Virus – Measles, HIV, Dengue fever
  3. Bacteria – Urinary tract infection, strep throat
  4. Parasites – Intestinal worms, Giardiasis
  5. Protozoa – African Sleeping sickness
