What are the different types of soil?

Soil:

1. The loose surface layer that covers the majority of the land is known as soil.
2. It is made up of both inorganic and organic particles.
3. Soil offers structural support for agricultural plants as well as a source of water and nutrients.

Types of soil:

The four fundamental soil types are sandy soil, silt soil, clay soil, and loamy soil.

Clay soil:

1. Clays are chemically active as a result, and they may contain nutrients on their surfaces.
2. These nutrients can be released into the soil water, where they can be used by plants.

Loamy soil:

1. A loamy soil, then, is one that has nearly equal numbers of all three types of particles.
2. Most garden plants thrive in loamy soil, which retains a lot of moisture while yet allowing enough air to reach the roots.

Sandy soil:

1. Sandy soil is light, warm, and dry, with an acidic pH and poor nutrient content.
2. Sandy soils are commonly referred to as "light soils" due to their high sand content and lack of clay.

Silt soil:

1. Silt is a granular substance that lies between sand and clay in size and is usually made up of crushed quartz grains.
2. When wet, silty soil is slick, not gritty or rough. If the silt component of the soil is more than 80%, it is classified as silt.
