The different types of terrestrial ecosystems are:-

  1. Grassland: Grassland is an example of natural terrestrial ecosystem because the vegetation of this area is dominated by grass.
  2. Desert: Desert is also under the natural terrestrial ecosystem because most of the area is covered by sands.
  3. Forest: A forest ecosystem is a functional unit which is composed of soil, trees, insects, animals, birds, and man as its interacting units.

Organisms in the forest:

  1. Forest include different type of organisms - producers, consumers and decomposers.
  2. The producers are mainly herbs, shrubs and trees.
  3. A wide variety of grasses, ferns, creepers, berries, herbs and shrubs are found in a forest ecosystem.
  4. The trees in a forest are home to thousands of birds and animals.
  5. The consumers include herbivores, carnivores as well as omnivores.
