Honey is a sweet, viscous liquid substance made by bees and other related insects from nectar (sweet juice) collected from flowers. Honeycombs are wax structures that contain honey.

Different bee types utilised in honey production are:

Commercial honey production:

  1. The western honeybee, often known as the European honeybee (Apis mellifera), is the most common of all honey bee species.
  2. Apis is the Latin word for "bee," and mellifera is the Latin word for "honey-bearing," referring to the honey-producing species.
  3. In a honey bee hive, there are three types of bees: worker, drone, and queen.
  4. In a given bee colony, each bee type has its own important jobs and responsibilities.
  5. Honey is produced by female workers, who then store it in wax honeycombs inside their nest.
  6. The "worker" bees live for around six weeks and produce a small amount of honey during that period.
  7. They also make beeswax, bee venom, propolis, and royal jelly in addition to honey.

Honey is produced by the following local bee species:

  1. Apis cerana indica, commonly known as the Indian bee
  2. Apis dorsata, the rock bee It's a gigantic honey bee.
  3. The small bee, Apis florea
  4. The European honey bee, Apis mellifera.
  5. It has a soft character. It has a large capacity for honey gathering. It is more capable of defending itself against enemies.
