The different ways in which individuals with particular traits can be increased in a population are:-
1) Natural selection- is the process by which organisms with better traits or characters,that is, those which are better adapted to survive in a particular environment will reproduce and pass on these traits to the next generation, also known as Darwin's law of natural selection.
2) Genetic drift- is the process by which the frequency of some genes in the population increases even if it gives no survival advantage.
It usually occurs when an accident occurs in a small population thus, resulting in the survival of organisms with a particular variant only.
