The organisms which cause diseases are caused are called pathogens.
Infectious diseases are those which are transmitted from an infected person to another healthy person.
The different ways in which infectious diseases can be spread are:
1. Direct transmission
- It can be spread by direct contact with the infected person
- Some infectious diseases are spread through air droplets when an infected person talks or a cough or sneezes small droplets containing infectious agents spread into the air.
- The soil has infectious agents like hookworm larvae, etc. Hence the disease can spread through contact with the soil.
- They can be spread by introducing it into the skin by contaminated needles and syringes, etc.
2. Indirect transmission
- The diseases can be transmitted indirectly by vectors like flies, etc.
