Solution

Nutrition is the process by which organisms can assimilate and utilise food for their basic needs. Nutrition is of two different types, namely, autotrophic and heterotrophic.

Autotrophic nutrition Heterotrophic nutrition
Autotrophic nutrition is the mode of nutrition exhibited by autotrophs. Heterotrophic nutrition is the mode of nutrition exhibited by heterotrophs
Autotrophs are organisms such as plants and some bacteria that can synthesise their own food. Heterotrophs are organisms like animals and non-green plants that depend on other organisms for their food.
Autotrophs can fix in energy from the sun into the food chain. Heterotrophs can obtain energy from the organisms in the previous trophic level which are producers.
Autrophic mode of nutrition can be represented by photosynthesis. Heterotrophic mode of nutrition can be holozoic, parasitic, symbiotic or saprophytic mode of nutrition.
