Question

what are the direction of current in the galvanometer of unbalanced wheatstone bridge? and how to identify them

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The deflection of needle of galvanometer is used to determine the direction of electric current. Electric current in current carrying wire produces magnetic field due to that magnetic field a twisting force on magnetic needle generated and there produces deflection in coil and this gives direction of current. The deflection of needle is directly proportional to electric current in it and its direction can be find using Fleming Left Hand Rule. In similar way u can understand that if current flowing in right direction then deflection of needle will be in right and vice versa.
Direction of current in galvanometer of unbalanced Wheatstone bridge depends on potential difference across galvanometer and end which is at higher potential and which is at lower potential decides flow of current as current always flow from higher potential to lower potential
