What are the disadvantages of ancient method of measuring objects

Hi,
The disadvantage was that there was no method for measuring exact amount like say 14.456 Kg then at that time we can measure approx 14 Kg 04 14.5 Kg but not the exact one.
Also for measuring high quantity there were no such tools.
