1. Frictional force is a type of contact force.
2. It starts to act whenever two surfaces are in contact with each other and starts to move over one another.
3. When we apply a force to move an object kept on a surface at the same time frictional force starts to act on the application of that force.

Disadvantages of friction:

1. Friction always resists the motion, so extra energy is required to overcome it.
2. It causes wear and tear in the running parts of a machine.
3. The life expectancy of moving parts of vehicles is also reduced due to friction.
