Solution

Divisibility rule of 4 and 8:

Divisibility rule of 4

A given number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits of a whole number are divisible by 4.

For example:124,236,504

Here the last two digits 24,36,04 are divisible by4.

That is 244=6,364=9,044=01

So, the entire number is divisible by4.

Divisibility rule of 8

A given number is divisible by 8 if the last three digits of a whole number is divisible by 8.

For example 83416,52008 etc.

Here, numbers formed by the last three digits 416,008 respectively are divisible by 8.

That is 4168=52 and 0088=001

So, the entire number is divisible by 8.

Thus, a given number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits of a whole number are divisible by 4 and a number is divisible by 8 if the last three digits of a whole number are divisible by8.
