Deforestation is the cutting down of trees of the forest. Due to this, there is a decrease in the number of trees that can consume CO22 and give out oxygen through photosynthesis. Thus, there is an increase in atmospheric CO22 levels.
The roots of the trees hold soil particles together. Without the trees, the fertile topsoil can be washed by water and wind, leaving the infertile/barren land behind. Vegetation is not possible on barren land.
