Solution
Interphase:
The phases of interphase are the G1 phase (cell growth), S phase (DNA synthesis), and G2 phase (cell growth).
The G1 phase, also known as the first gap phase, is a stage when the cell physically expands, duplicates organelles, and produces the molecular building blocks required for subsequent processes.
During the S phase, the cell creates a full copy of the DNA in the nucleus.
Additionally, the centrosome, a structure that organizes microtubules, is duplicated.
The second gap phase, also known as the G2 phase, is a period of high cell growth, protein and organelle production, and content reorganization in preparation for mitosis.
Between each mitotic (M) phase, there is interphase.
