Solution

Coefficient of permeability: -

  1. An evaluation metric for ground permeability is the permeability coefficient.
  2. If the soil is loose, then naturally, it will contain more pores due to which its coefficient of permeability will be higher.
  3. In contrast, permeability decreases as the soil density increases.

Factors affecting coefficient of permeability: -

  1. Particle size.
  2. Water impurities.
  3. Void ratio.
  4. Level of saturation.
  5. Adsorbed water.
  6. Trapped air.
  7. Organic materials.
