Solution

The factors affecting the height of the waves.

Height of the wave:

The height of the wave from the wave top is called the wave crest to the bottom of the wave is called the wave trough.

Factors affecting the height of the waves:

  1. The rapid speed with which the wind blows across it.
  2. The pushing motion of the winds blowing across the water.
  3. How long has the wind been blowing over through the body of water?
  4. The length of such wind blowing throughout the ocean.

Other than the wind, the height of the wave can be affected by other factors, such as:

  1. An earthquake under the water
  2. Volcanic eruptions
  3. Underwater landslides

Therefore, whenever the ocean's waves crash over a particular area, it can be fatal. Tsunamis can be caused by subsequent waves that fluctuate in speed, height, as well as duration.
