What are the factors that affect the size of a shadow?
the distance of the source of light
the angle at which the light rays fall on the object
the size of the opaque object
The size of the shadow depends on the distance of the source of light and the angle at which the light rays fall on the object. If the source of light is closer to the object, a larger shadow is formed and vice-versa. On the other hand, if the angle of incident light is close to 90∘, the shadow is smaller.
The size of the opaque object also affect the size of the shadow. If the source of light is fixed at a point, for a given distance, a small object will cast a smaller shadow and a big object will cast a larger shadow.
