Features of Northern Plains are:
1. Northern plain are formed by interplay of the three major river systems - the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra along with their tributaries.
2. Northern plain is formed of alluvial soil which makes it very fertile.
3. It spreads over an area of 7 lakh sq. km. The plain being about 2400 Km long and 240 to 320 Km broad.
4. Due to adequate water supply and favourable climatic conditions, it is agriculturally productive.
5. Northern plains are classified into 4 sections due to the different relif : Bhabar, Terai , Bhangar , Khadar.
6. It covers wide area, almost whole of North India i.e. parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, MP, UP, Bihar, West Bengal.
