What are the features of the nuclear model of an atom as proposed by Rutherford?
Presence of nucleus, movement of electrons in circular path and size of nucleus is very small as compared to size of the atom
On the basis of his experiments, Rutherford put forward the nuclear model of an atom with the following features:
* There is a positively charged centre in an atom called nucleus and nearly all mass of an atom resides in the nucleus.
* The electrons revolve around the nucleus in circular paths.
* The size of the nucleus is very small as compared to the size of the atom. According to the data, the size of the nucleus is 105 times less than the size of an atom.
* Nearly all the mass of the atom is concentrated in the nucleus of an atom. It is not evenly distributed.
