Solution

Vector is a small vehicle that carries gene of interest to be used in cloning, such as plasmid.
Features of a vector
1. Should be small in size so that desired gene can be inserted into it.
2. Should contain selectable marker so that recombinants and non-recombinants can be identified.
3. Should contain multiple polylinker sites so that different restriction enzymes can be used to cut at different sites to insert a desired gene.
4. Should have high copy number per cell.
5. Should have origin of replication.
