Bones: These are hard structures that form the frame of our body upon which the muscles and organs are arranged to finally form a complete body.

  1. The bones are there to provide a basic structure and shape to the body.
  2. It also acts as protection for various vital organs which can be at risk in case of injuries.

Cartilage: This is a supportive connective tissue and is much more flexible and not that compact structure like bones.

  1. It acts as a cushion upon the joint areas for added protection against shocks.
  2. It is needed for the growth of long bones.
  3. It also shapes a lot of body tissues.
  4. A common example of cartilage is the external pinna of the ear.
