Banyan tree has large deep and strong roots under the soil to hold the whole tree to the soil. The roots also absorb water from the soil to transfer it to other parts of the plant.
Banyan tree also posses prop roots hanging from the branches. The prop roots supports the heavy branches and trunks of the tree above the ground.
