A kidney is the primary excretory organ of the body.Each kidney has a large number of filtration units called nephrons, packed close together.The functions of kidneys in the human excretory system are
i. Excretion of nitrogenous waste like urea.
ii. Regulation of water contents of the body i.e, osmoregulation.
iii. Excretion of salts and the regulation of blood acidity.
iv. Excretion of toxic substances.
v. Regulates blood pressure.
vi. Helps in the formation of RBC.
