The various functions of kidneys are as follows:
(i) They remove the waste products from the blood.
(ii) They maintain a constant composition of the blood, irrespective of the nature of the food or fluid intake.
(iii) They maintain the constant pH in selecting and filtering out the acidic substances from the blood into the urine.
(iv) They play a key role in osmoregulation.
