  1. Bromine is a brownish-red liquid. It has coloured vapour with a suffocating odour.
  2. Bromine water is the mixture of Bromine in water.
  3. It appears to be yellow-to-red in colour.

Following are the Hazards of Bromine water:

1. Health Issues:

  1. Humans can absorb Bromine through the skin, by food and also during breathing because organic bromine is used in sprays to kill insects.
  2. The most important effect of Bromine contamination is the malfunctioning of the nervous system and genetic material.
  3. Organic Bromine also damages the liver, kidney, etc. They can cause stomach and gastrointestinal (GIT) malfunctioning, and some forms of Bromine can cause cancer too.

2. Environmental Issues:

  1. Organic Bromine is not very much biodegradable when it is decomposed ( inorganic Bromine will exist). They can damage the nervous system when absorbed much.
  2. Organic Bromine is used in disinfecting and protecting agents because of its ability to damage tissues of microorganisms which leads to health effects on fishes.
