Dear student,
The important measures of poverty alleviation in India are :
Trickle down approach - It is based on the assumption that the high economic growth in form of increased GDP and per capita income will automatically spread to all the sections of the society. The policy makers were of view that the economic growth will raise overall standard and quality of living.
Poverty Alleviation Programs- Various Poverty alleviation programs has been started by the Government to alleviate poverty from the economy. Some of the programs are: National food for work program, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Minimum needs program, etc.
Providing basis amenities- It includes providing basic amenities like health and medical care, education, better sanitation, etc to poor sections of the society.
