(1) Thickeners: These are the substances that are added to various skincare products to enhance their stability and convenience to use.
- Natural thickeners: Derived from natural sources like plants. Examples: Stearic acid, carnauba wax, gum
- Mineral thickeners: Derived from the minerals. Example: Silica gel, Magnesium aluminium silicate
(2) Moisturisers: The chemical substances which help to retain moisture when applied to the skin.
- Moisturisers are used as a skincare product to prevent the loss of water and maintain the moisture level in the skin.
