What are the laws of flotation in a liquid? Give some illustrations.

  1. The law of flotation states that a floating body displaces the weight of the fluid in which it floats.
  2. According to the principle of flotation, an object will float in a liquid if the weight of an object is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by it.
  3. This means if a log 200kg floats in water and displaces 200kg water if the same log is placed in another liquid and can float it will displace the same 200kg fluid in which it float.
