Solution

Hydroelectric power plant: The electric power plant that utilizes the potential energy of a water reservoir and kinetic energy of a turbine to create the electrical energy from mechanical power is the hydroelectricity power plant.

Limitations of hydro-energy:

  • The hydro-power plants are generally not near the location where the power demand is high.
  • The hydro-power plants depend on the availability of water. The dams cannot be set up to operate immediately on demand if the water head is not sufficient.
  • The initial cost of construction is very high.
  • There are minimal locations that are favorable for the construction of hydro-power plants.
