On December 11th, 1997, the Kyoto Protocol was signed in Kyoto, Japan.
The Kyoto Protocol is a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) agreement.

In other words, reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.
The main aims are:
Greenhouse gas reduction-Legally obligatory pledges for nations, as well as general commitments for all member countries to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses.
Creating funds- Creating a climate change adaptation fund to reduce the impact on developing countries.
Right working of the system- To ensures the Protocol's integrity, accounting, reporting, and evaluation are required.
Establishing a compliance committee- To monitor and enforce adherence to the Protocol's commitments.
