Following are the main drawbacks of a large population:

(a) Food supply: If the population increases and the production of food does not, it will lead to a shortage of food supply.
(b) Poverty: If a family with less income has more members, financial management in that family will become extremely difficult. With the addition of every child, poverty will keep burdening that family.
(c) Unemployment: More number of people will mean more demand for employment, and if sufficient number of jobs are not available, it will lead to unemployment.
(d) Education problem: It will become difficult for the government to provide education to everyone if the population is too large.
