The main features of a First Information Report (FIR) are-

1. It has to be in written form.
2. The person who files the report (complainant) should provide some evidence.
3. Complainant's signature should be there.
4. The FIR requires the mentioning of time and date of the crime and the identity of the committer.
5. After writing of the statement, it is necessary that the statement be read over to the maker.
