Functions of roots are as follows:

  4. It acts as a storage for reserved food.

Stems:

  1. The stem is the axial part of the plant that bears buds, shoots and leaves and on the basal part, roots are present.

Functions of stems are as follows:

  1. It supports the branches, leaves, flowers and fruits.
  2. It transports the water and minerals from roots to the other plant parts.
  3. It helps in the production of new living tissues.
  4. It holds the plant upright.
