  1. It is defined as the accumulation of toxic chemicals in the soil, in high concentrations and can posses a risk to human health.

Sources of soil pollution:

  1. The discharge of industrial waste such as chemicals, wastewater, etc., degrades the quality of the soil.
  2. Agricultural waste like pesticides, wastewater, and fertilizers also cause soil pollution and lessen its quality.
  3. Disposal of solid waste and plastics from household cause an adverse effect on the quality of the soil.
  4. Acid rain, the presence of heavy metals, nuclear waste, oil spills, etc, are some other factors that cause soil pollution.

These are the sources that cause soil pollution.
