• We breathe oxygen which is the basis of life of all living things including human beings. Without it, no living beings can exist alive on this earth.

• Carbon dioxide which is a non-metal oxide is essential for plants to carry out photosynthesis.

• Non-metals like nitrogen and phosphorus are used in fertilisers for better yield of plants. Phosphorus is used in manufacturing matchsticks and fireworks.
