In angiosperms, flowers are the reproductive organs. The male gametes, called pollen grains, are formed in the anther. The female gametes, called ovules, are formed in the ovary. Pollination occurs, during which the pollen grains are transferred from the anther to the stigma. The male gametes travel through the style reaching the ovary of the pistil in the flower and there fertilization occurs. After fertilization, the ovule changes into the seed and the ovary into fruit.
