The measures adopted to control soil pollution are as follows:
(a) Biological means such as manure can be used to treat the soil; pest control by using natural predators can increase the crop yield moreover it helps in reducing the soil pollution.
(b) Industrial liquid wastes should not be allowed to seep into the soil as it pollutes not just the soil by reacting with minerals present in the soil but also pollutes ground water.
(c) Solid wastes can be buried in thin layers alternating with soil. This is called a sanitary landfill. Land-filling should be used in low-lying areas having impervious rock strata to prevent ground water pollution.
(d) Radioactive wastes should be detoxified before disposal.
(e) Air and water pollution should be checked.
(f) Laws and regulations preventing soil pollution should be framed and imposed strictly.
