Open in App
Solution

Two- kingdom system of classification:

  1. This categorization system was based on environment, cell structure, cell wall nature, mode of nourishment, reproductive strategies, and so forth.
  2. Chlorophyll-containing green plants, mosses, ferns, numerous colourless and coloured unicellular creatures, moulds, Fungi, lichens, bacteria, and multicellular seaweeds comprised the kingdom Plantae.
  3. Many more unicellular Protozoans and multicellular animals lacking chlorophyll and photosynthetic capabilities were placed in the kingdom Animalia.

Objections of the two-kingdom system of classification:

The two-kingdom categorization scheme was deemed unsatisfactory for the following reasons:

  1. Both unicellular and multicellular creatures were grouped together.
  2. Organisms of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic origin were grouped together.
  3. Autotrophs and heterotrophs were both grouped together.
