European Union traces its origin from the European Coal and Steel Community. European Union has five organs.
(A) European Parliament: It is the legislative body of the EU. Its members are directly elected by the citizens of the member country.
(B) Council of European Union: It forms the other half of the EU's legislature. It comprises one representative per member state.
(C) European Commission: It acts as the EU's executive arm. It is responsible for initiating legislation and the day to day running of the EU.
(D) Court of Justice: It has 15 members. It determines whether the treaties in the European Union are being implemented or are in accordance with Union Law.
(E) Courts of Auditors: It manages the EU Budgets.
