What are the parts of a circle?
Parts of the circle.
A circle is the set of all the points in the plane which are equidistant from a fixed point, called the center.
Radius: The distance from the center of the circle to the circumference.
Chord: A line segment when joining any two points lies on the circumference.
Diameter: The longest chord that passes through the center of the circle.
Secant: A line segment that intersects a circle in two points known as the secant of the circle.
Tangent: A line that touches a circle at exactly one point is known as the tangent of the circle.
Point of Tangency: The point at which the tangent line touches the circle is known as the point of tangency.
Therefore, the center of the circle, radius, diameter, chord, secant, tangent and point of tangency are the various parts of a circle.
