What are the possible locations of the orthocentre of a triangle?
Inside the triangle
Outside the triangle
On the rectangular vertex of the triangle
Orthocentre is the point of intersection of the altitudes of a triangle. It can either lie inside, on or outside the triangle. This depends on the type of triangle in question:
- If the triangle is acute angled triangle, it lies inside the triangle.
- If the triangle is obtuse angled triangle, it lies outside the triangle.
- If the triangle is right angled triangle, it lies on the rectangular vertex of the triangle. [Rectangular vertex is the vertex on which the right angle is formed]
