Question

What are the practical applications of the maximum power transfer theorem?

Open in App
Solution

Throughout DC circuits, one such theorem states that perhaps the source may transmit maximum power whenever the overall resistance seen from the loading is equivalent to the quantity of the resistance of that weight.

Applications of maximum power transfer:

  1. The circuit of a public address system is generally set up for optimum power transmission by having the load resistance equivalent to the source resistance.
  2. The power provided to the starting motor of an automobile engine is determined by the effective resistance of such motor as well as the internal resistance of such batteries. Maximum power would be delivered towards the motor to turn the engines if somehow the two resistances are equivalent.
