Sex-linked diseases are diseases that are controlled by the genes present on the sex chromosomes. Each individual has a pair of sex chromosomes, each chromosome is inherited from each parent. In sex-linked disorder, the defective gene is found only on the one sex chromosome (for example, X chromosome) and is not present on the other sex chromosome (for example, Y chromosome). These diseases are inherited through one of the sex chromosomes. For example, haemophilia is an X-linked disorder. Red-green colour blindness is another example of X-linked recessive disease. For both the diseases, the defective gene is present on the X chromosome.
