Solution
Heartbeat:
The heartbeat refers to the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the atria and ventricles.
The average rate of heartbeat is 72 times per minute.
The contraction of the heart chambers is called systole.
The relaxation of the heart chambers after contraction is known as diastole.
LUBB and DUP:
The doctors hear two sounds when while examining a patient through the stethoscope.
The first sound “LUBB” is produced when the atrioventricular (tricuspid and bicuspid) valves get closed sharply at the beginning of ventricular systole.
The second “DUP” sound is produced at the start of ventricular diastole. The semilunar (pulmonary and aortic) valves get closed. These valves are present at the base of the aorta and the pulmonary artery.
