Question

What are the speed of the particles present at x=3.0cm, 5.0cm and 7.0cm at t=0.01s ?

Solution

For a wave given by y=Asin(kxωt),
Velocity of particles is given by dydt=Aωcos(kxωt)
Thus the velocity of the particle is v(x,t)=π10cosπ[x2.0cmt0.01s]
Putting the values of x and t in the above equations gives, v(3cm,0.01s)=0m/s
v(5cm,0.01s)=0m/s
v(7cm,0.01s)=0m/s
